Summit Global Investments was founded in 2010 with a clear, personal purpose: to help a family. In the wake of the 2007-2008 financial crisis, Dave Harden's father — recently retired after a lifetime of careful work — asked his son a simple question: “Can you help protect what I've worked my whole life for?” The risk-management strategies he needed were available only to institutions. For a family, there was no good option. Dave built one. That conversation became a firm. The firm became a platform. And the purpose has not changed.
There are many capable advisors and many large multi-family offices. SGI is different. We were not built around products, scale, or distribution; we were built on firsthand experience — managing complex portfolios, coordinating advisors, and preserving and compounding capital across generations while keeping the family clear-headed and in control. That experience shapes how we work. Advice is driven by what is best for the family. Decisions are made with a long-term horizon rather than against the next benchmark. Relationships are intentionally selective, so every family receives the focus and attention it deserves. The simplest way to put it: we manage capital with the same stewardship we would for our own family.
At the core of SGI is deep institutional investment expertise. We bring a disciplined, multi‑asset approach across public and private markets, with experience navigating complex portfolios through various market cycles. Our work centers on long‑term compounding, thoughtful risk management, and access to high‑quality opportunities. The combination of family‑office alignment with genuine institutional capability is uncommon, and it gives families both confidence and clarity in how their capital is managed.
Most families we meet work with several advisors — investment, tax, estate, legal, often more — and over time, that can become fragmented. SGI serves as a central point of coordination, aligning investment strategy with the broader plan and working alongside outside advisors when families wish to keep them. Portfolio management, investment policy, asset allocation, trust and estate coordination, tax‑aware planning, philanthropy, and business considerations — all handled under one roof by one team, with one dedicated manager.
Many firms offer family office services. Few have evolved the way ours has — naturally, as a family’s needs became more complex. That history keeps our advice practical, our service thoughtful, and our focus on what truly matters, financially and personally.
Families choose SGI because they are looking for more than advice. They are looking for a partner who thinks like an owner, invests with discipline, plans for the long term, and understands the responsibility of stewardship centered on a family’s future. The standard we hold for ourselves is simple and has not changed since 2010: the standard a son would set for his own father. If that resonates, we would welcome the chance to talk.
At the center of Summit Global’s Family Office is a fully integrated institutional investment engine. Our in-house portfolio management team drives disciplined, research-led strategies across public and private markets.
This capability is not an extension—it is the foundation. Every decision is guided by a unified philosophy and executed with precision, delivering a more cohesive and effective approach to managing significant wealth.
